Swig this down!
When you first start Diablo 4, your potions are frustratingly weak and you’ll be using them up pretty quickly. Thankfully, there’s a way to upgrade potions in Diablo 4.
In addition to giving more health to your character, they also provide an increase in your Maximum Life for a few seconds. Here’s how to get the most out of upgrading potions.
Where to improve potions in Diablo 4
To gain improved potions in Diablo 4, you’ll want to visit the Alchemist in every hub town. Press the touchpad button on your controller (View button on Xbox or your PC keyboard alternative) to access the map.
Now, hover your cursor over to a symbol that looks like a mortar and pestle. In Kyovashad, for instance, you can spot the alchemist’s building southeast of the town next to the healer.
How to upgrade potions
Once you manage to find the Alchemist, you’ll see a meter that stretches down starting from the Weak Healing Potion. The first upgrade is the Tiny Healing Potion and with every ten levels, this healing liquid can be improved. You’ll also need to gather some materials across the world, however. For the Minor Healing Potion, you’ll need 15 Gallowvine and five Biteberries. The cheeky Alchemist also asks for 400 Gold. The materials will change for every instance of potion, so keep an eye out for resources like Crushed Beast Bones, Howler Moss, and Paletongue.
If you press the right shoulder button or just hover over to the next tab on your PC, you’ll see that you can make Elixirs. These can be used to give temporary stats to your hero. For example, the Weak Ironbarb Elixir gives increased armor by 50, Thorns by 25, and Experience by 5% for 30 minutes. That’s pretty useful if you want to grind experience and gain an advantage on your foes for a tough fight. They are quite expensive, on the other hand.
If you’re out of a certain material, you can refine your resources. For example, if you’re out of Howler Moss, you can refine five Gallkowvine to make it. It will cost 200 Gold to do this. While you’re in the hub town, you can also change your appearance. You can hide your helmet and keep the same outfit on, despite changing your equipment for better stats. When you invite your friends in Diablo 4, you’ll be ready to take on tough quests, now that you have improved potions and impressive armor.
