You’ve got your first set of wheels built, and it’s time for a road trip in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But, oh no, before you even hit the highway, you run out of batteries. That’s your Energy Cell, and it’s used to power any of the Zonai gadgets that you come across. Bit of a bummer that it’s so small.

Good news! You can upgrade it! Bad news! It takes a bit of effort!

Essentially, you can upgrade your Energy Cell by paying out items called Crystallized Charges. We have guides giving the ins and outs of gathering Crystallized Charges, but we’ll give you a quick summary here.

Crystallized Charges lurk almost exclusively in the Depths. You’ll find them in scattered chests or dropped by defeated bosses. You can also trade Zonaite to Forge Constructs, most of which are also in the depths.

Once you have your Crystallized Charges, you’ll need to take them to a Crystal Refinery to add blocks to your Energy Cells. You can find one of these on the South end of Great Sky Island. However, I find the most convenient one is just out the North doors of Lookout Landing. Talk to one of these constructs, and they will offer to generate new Energy Wells using Crystallized Charges.

Brace yourself. The constructs will ask for 100 Crystallized Charges for one small nub of your Energy Cell. That means you’ll need 300 Crystallized Charges for a whole new battery. It’s a pretty tall order. Our previously mentioned guides will help you get there, so just prepare to make the effort.
