I still hate Liu Bei
Nintendo’s gambit with one of its most profitable properties seems to have paid off. Koei Tecmo’s Hyrule Warriors is the fastest selling of any entry of the Musou series released in the United States. Great DLC and iconic characters have shot this game up the sales charts.
A fan of the series compiled the above chart showing the Hyrule Warriors had a considerably more successful launch than its predecessors. However, historically the Musou series has seen its numbers increase throughout a console cycle, so only time will tell if Hyrule Warriors will surpass Dynasty Warriors 4‘s worldwide sales of over two million copies.
I for one hope Nintendo and Koei Tecmo’s relationship continues into more Musou games. Maybe the next entry can include characters from multiple franchises. Super Smash Battlefield perhaps?
