You don’t work here, so you wouldn’t know, but I do, and I feel like my co-workers are hostile towards role-playing games and the people that enjoy them. They don’t like that “numbers come out of the heads,” and that you have to “walk around” and “talk to people.” My guess? They can’t read. There are a few here that stand bravely in defense of this genre, but the rest want zombies, guitars, and guns. I have no one to share my joy with. My hope is that the few, brave RPG players out there will hold their geek flag high for this title.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope has been in the making for some time. Now we’re only about two months away from the Japanese release, and the footage and images are starting to surface.
This trailer appeals to every ounce of RPG gamer within me. It draws on my love of the series games, and then kicks my ass with introductions, dramatic shots, and awesome music. The character names are brilliantly ridiculous, too. There’s a lot of in-battle footage here, and all of it looks great. The battles look to be true to the franchise, but with a few upgrades. This game looks fantastic.
Who’s with me?
