Indie game site Venus Patrol launches with awesome games

Venus Patrol has been “really honestly actually finally launched,” according to creator and indie game curator/journalist/adventurer Brandon Boyer. One click on this hyperlink will prove that he is in fact not a scheming dirty liar planning to take off with all your Kickstarter money.

You can expect to see us and many other sites link to Venus Patrol in the future, as Boyer has had his finger on the pulse of the independent scene for longer than most. Between his role as chairman of Independent Game Festival, organizing Austin gaming collective Juegos Rancheros‘ monthly events, and connecting designers and artists across the world, he’s usually first to declare what new indie game is worth checking out and he’s usually right. He introduced me to Sword & Sworcery and, most recently, Super Hexagon, long before most knew these titles.

As part of the site’s Kickstarter, exclusive games by Vlambeer (Super Crate Box) and Adam Atomic (Canabalt) were offered. Now these games can be acquired through Venus Patrol’s membership program. You’ll also get  art & music from the creators of Adventure Time, Katamari Damacy, LittleBigPlanet and PixelJunk Eden.

After a lengthy start-up process, I’m happy to see Venus Patrol have such a successful launch. Now go check out the site, but do come back, you hear? We need you. I mean, we love you. No, I mean both!
