The final frontier
After Call of Duty: Black Ops III dropped its campaign mode in order to squeak by on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the next entry, November’s Infinite Warfare, is skipping the languishing last-gen consoles entirely (at least at the hands of Infinity Ward). The developer confirmed the news today in a response sent over Twitter.
I have to imagine plenty of folks would put up with Call of Duty on older hardware despite lowered graphical fidelity and feature sets, but I also have to imagine Activision has crunched the numbers here and decided ports of Infinite Warfare just aren’t worth the production headaches.
Lots of folks have yet to buy an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4, but now that we’re a couple of years into this console cycle, and with enhanced models rumored, prices are getting reasonable for latecomers. Anywho, wake me when we get word that Modern Warfare Remastered will be sold standalone.
