Alan Wake 2 launched on 27 October to critical acclaim. If you want to play on PC, Epic Games Store is currently your only option and that has some players wondering whether it will ever make its way to Steam.
There has been no word from Epic Games, Remedy, or Valve regarding whether Alan Wake 2 will make it to Steam. However, you’d be wise not to hold your breath for it.
Remedy’s relationship with Epic Games Store is a long one. Epic paid over $10 million to have Control as an EGS exclusive for a year, and the game only landed on Steam in August 2020. That same year, Remedy signed a deal to have two of its games published by Epic.
The first game was Alan Wake Remastered which was released in October 2021 and is still an EGS exclusive on PC. The second game was Alan Wake 2, and if it follows the pattern of the first game in the two-game deal, then it likely won’t be coming to Steam.
This is an obstacle for many, but it’s not an insurmountable problem. Players have figured out how to get the game running on the Steam Deck, and on PC it is possible to add non-Steam games to Steam after you’ve made the purchase on the EGS.
If you haven’t played Alan Wake 2 yet, now’s a good time to grab it. EGS’s current Black Friday sale will allow you to pick up the eccentric survival horror title at a 33% discount.
