Is that an invitation? No, wait. Before we get ahead of ourselves, is the multiplayer of Coral Island co-op?
No, Coral Island multiplayer is no co-op.
Let’s back up further. Does Coral Island even have multiplayer?
No, Coral Island doesn’t have multiplayer. Yet.
Yeah, before we can even ask if there is co-op, there first has to be some sort of multiplayer, and there isn’t. However, while that may be bad news to some of you, there is a silver lining here. Multiplayer was a stretch goal during the game’s funding, and the community did manage to raise enough money for it. Stairway Games plans on adding multiplayer to the game at some point in the future, but it’s not there at release. When they do add it, they plan on allowing both a co-op mode and island visits so you can stop by your friends’ farms.
So, when can we expect multiplayer? Stairway Games isn’t saying just yet. It’s on the roadmap, but it doesn’t have an exact day. While this is speculation, I would assume that it won’t arrive until after the Switch version, which doesn’t have a planned date either. I expect we’ll be waiting a while, but Stardew Valley didn’t have multiplayer at launch, either.
Coral Island is available now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It will be coming to Switch at a later date.
