Guild 01, for those who have forgotten, is a recent Japanese 3DS title that features four original games by four different designers for one big jam session. The team includes Grasshopper’s Suda 51, Seaman creator Yoot Saito, Final Fantasy XII co-director Yasumi Matsuno, and comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai (buh?).
Level-5 has recently filed a pair of trademarks for Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud. The former is the name of Suda’s shoot-em-up, while the latter is the name of Matsuno’s RPG. Since it’s unlikely that Level-5 is planning on breaking apart the four games into separate releases, it seems like an official announcement that Guild 01 is US-bound is just around the corner.
I’m glad Level-5 is at least thinking about giving such a strange collection a chance. Hopefully Guild 01 does well enough so that the sequel, featuring a contribution by Keiji Inafune, gets the green light as well.
