Palworld being free to play would make it accessible for many to try this new take on the monster catching genre. You may need to pay up, however, as this game seems like a graphical powerhouse amongst its peers.
Can you play Palworld as a free to play game?
Sadly, Palworld is a pay-to-play game, but you may get it for cheaper if you buy it during its early access period.
Currently, it is $29.99 on Steam (and included with Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series X/S), but it might work a lot like another monster-catching title, TemTem. “The price of the game may increase at or closer to the official release,” explains the developer Pocketpair on the game’s Steam page.
You’ll likely get a lot for your money. There will apparently be over 100 monsters to find and collect, a big open world, and some stellar graphics. Palworld also has a building and crafting system as you try to survive this dangerous world full of monsters and guns.
Palworld is launching under Early Access on Steam sometime in January. The developer will continually update the game with new monsters, areas, and dungeons to keep it fresh all the way up to release. It may take a year to get to the 1.0 version, but Pocketpair does state it may take longer than that.
Are there any free games like Palworld?
If you’re looking to battle it out with pocket monsters like these, there is TemTem: Showdown. Similar to Pokémon Stadium, you take part in challenges and go against foes’ teams. Unlike the Nintendo 64 game, however, you can take the action online.
You can also try the surprisingly fulfilling Coromon on mobile phones for free. The early part of the game is available for you to check out before buying.
