Destiny 2: Lightfall is out now, and Guardians new to the ranks might be wondering which version of the new DLC to purchase. The base edition is priced at $49.99 while Lightfall with the annual pass jumps up to $99.99.
When considering that the base game is $49.99, we can tell you that the annual pass includes every season pass throughout the duration of the DLC, which is usually around $9.99 to purchase in-game. There are four of these per expansion, so that’s around an additional $40 on top if you’d like to keep up with the seasonal storyline. Many fans of the series have said that Lightfall has left too many questions, and in a recent blog post Bungie announced that it has many plans for the year’s seasons to explain the expansion’s events.
Alongside the season passes, the annual pass also includes the brand new raid which launches on March 10, two dungeons released in seasons 21 and 23, a new exotic Sparrow, the Quicksilver Storm catalyst, and ornament. These items are not available to purchase separately in the game as of yet, so we cannot put a price point on them but it’s up to Guardians to decide whether they think it’s worth $10 or more.
If you’re an avid player of Destiny 2 then the likelihood is you’ll be keen to buy the season passes and some ornaments throughout the year anyway, so for this reason we’d say that yes, the Lightfall annual pass is worth the money.
