A ranking system for the strongest in Sanctuary
For some, competition adds a whole new element of fun to games like Diablo 4. It’s entertaining being able to compare your progress to your friends or even the rest of the world. With the Diablo 4 Hardcore Race to 100, a leaderboard would be the perfect way to see where you stack up to other racers. For all of these reasons you may be wondering: Is there a Diablo 4 leaderboard?
There is no Diablo 4 leaderboard until Season 3
In the Diablo 4 Developer Update Live Stream for May 2023, the developers confirmed there will be no leaderboards in the game until Season 3 releases. The delay is so the feature can be fully optimized for both Softcore and Hardcore play, but also so some balancing updates can take place before a leaderboard exists. Furthermore, with Diablo 4 having PvP content, it’s very likely there will be both PvE and PvP leaderboards.
We know that Season One for Diablo 4 is expected about six weeks after launch, around mid to late July. Each season is going to last about three months. Therefore, we can expect leaderboards in early 2024 or maybe late 2023 alongside the launch of the third season.
What will leaderboards look like?
Even though we have no specifics for the eventual addition of leaderboards, we can certainly speculate based on the information available to us. As we said above, there will probably be a system for both PvE and PvP content. More than likely the leaderboards will be season based and reset at the start of each season.
In Diablo 3, ranking high each season was simply for bragging rights. There may be some sort of cosmetic reward or title associated with leaderboard rankings in Diablo 4, but there has been no confirmation either way. With it taking over 100 hours to hit the max level, some may argue that some sort of reward would be nice. For me personally, I think the bragging rights are enough. You should not have to worry about missing rewards if you have no interest in competitive play.
