A new Final Fantasy (mode)
Playing through Final Fantasy XVI once is already a big task. But for those who want a lot more Final Fantasy XVI in their lives, having an extra reason like New Game Plus to run back through it isn’t all bad.
New Game Plus modes have become pretty popular, especially in the action genre. It’s a way to get extra hours out of the main campaign, though with a game as long as XVI, that’s a big ask. Still, for those who want to play even more XVI, there are ways to do so.
Final Fantasy XVI New Game Plus, explained
The answer is yes, Final Fantasy XVI has a New Game Plus mode. It opens up after clearing the main game, and will appear as an option on the main menu.
Through “Final Fantasy mode,” you can re-experience the journey of Clive and pals with all your progression and goods from the previous run. So yes, you can carry over all the power you built up over the dozens of hours of playtime.
Don’t count on enemies being a cakewalk, though. Final Fantasy XVI‘s carryover mode also bumps up the difficulty by remixing enemies, raising the level cap, and more.
You can also craft the legendary weapon for Final Fantasy XVI in this mode. So if you want sick swords for Clive, this is what you’ll need to do to get one.
Locking in this mode will also prevent you from bopping over to the more traditional Story or Action Focused versions of the main Final Fantasy XVI campaign, which makes some sense. You wouldn’t want to break the level cap and dip back into the normal difficulty. Seems unsporting for the opposition.
