Crossplay is almost essential for fighting games nowadays as it helps the community thrive. Here’s everything we know about Under Night In-Birth 2 crossplay.
Will Under Night In-Birth 2 have crossplay?
Currently, publisher Arc System Works and developer French-Bread haven’t said a word on Under Night In-Birth 2 crossplay. The feature seems vital for those who want to play with as many players as possible. While the Under Night series is popular among anime fighting game fans, the community is relatively small. Crossplay would give players more of a chance to fight new competitors.
Personally, if I try to learn the game, I wouldn’t want to be saddled with high-level players because of a lacking user base. We’ll update this post if either party confirms there will be crossplay at launch or in a patch.
Do other Arc System Works games have crossplay?
In December 2022, the Arc System Works-developed game Guilty Gear Strive received crossplay. It was years after the game’s initial launch. Hopefully, Under Night In-Birth 2 players won’t have to wait that long now that the publisher has experience with this feature.
Something that fighting game fans may be happy with, however, is that Under Night In-Birth 2 supports rollback netcode. This means there will be theoretically a more solid online experience. This system predicts what your next move will be, making the transition between connection speeds and gameplay smoother. It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than a delay-based netcode that has haunted the competitive fighting game scene for many years. Finally that nightmare seems to be fading away.
