Trick question: All cats are cute enough to be in Minecraft
Your cat could be an official Minecraft cat if your cat is exceptionally cute and cool. (All cats are exceptionally cute and cool, so I am of the opinion that all cats belong in Minecraft.)
The Minecraft team is making a blocky in-game representation of someone’s kitten, and they’re holding a contest to figure out which cat is the best. Send a picture of your adorable feline with the hashtag #Minecraftcatcontest on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to enter. Simple enough. The entry period on November 12.
Ingeniously, Minecraft‘s community folks positioned themselves to look at cats “for work” for the next few days. They’ll judge the cattens on a three-part scoring rubric: “Is the cat unique looking; could the cat be successfully rendered into Minecraft content; and would the cat appeal to other Minecraft players?” They’ll whittle it down to three finalists that players vote on before a winner is announced on November 19. That cat, subjectively the best cat, will be The Minecraft Cat.
I would like to take this opportunity to bypass the hashtag process and officially nominate my girlfriend’s cat, Aggro, to be The Minecraft Cat. He’s orange and has big, round green eyes. He always looks like he’s having an existential crisis. Aggro is a good cat, and he should be The Minecraft Cat.
