If you want to see what all the hubbub is about for Yo-Kai Watch, it looks like you don’t have to spend any money. Given this Australian Classification listing, Nintendo, the publisher of the game outside of Japan, seems to be planning a demo of sorts.
Since this is the first ever iteration hitting the west, it’s probably a good idea to give it a go before jumping in. I’m still anxiously awaiting the chance as a fan of Level-5 and the Yo-Kai designs.
