We all knew a Nintendo Direct was coming this month. It was just a matter of which day it would take place. Now, with all the hype from Summer Game Fest simmering down, Nintendo’s made its move and confirmed an exact date and time for its own summer showcase.
Said Nintendo Direct will air tomorrow on Tuesday, June 18 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST, and is scheduled to run for 40 minutes. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo hasn’t said exactly what sort of games you can expect from the Direct, but it has reaffirmed that there will be no mention of its next console. It already stressed this last month, but sometimes a reminder is necessary.
This Direct is expected to cover Nintendo’s plans for the second half of 2024, which are otherwise non-existent. Aside from Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for the summer, Nintendo has no big titles confirmed for the rest of the year. Even without any details about the Switch 2 (or whatever it’s called), Nintendo could also tease its plans for early 2025.
There have also been rumours of third-party related announcements for the next Nintendo Direct. A popular one is that we’ll finally see more of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, and it’s also speculated that the first two games are seeing remakes based on this teaser tweet from Square Enix. Earlier today, another rumor spread of something Ace Attorney related making an appearance, with some theorizing it will be for a collection of the Ace Attorney Investigations duology.
