Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4), Farpoint (PlayStation VR), Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4), and Maquette (PS5)
There are a couple of caveats to keep in mind, but boy, this is a well-rounded month for a lot of PlayStation Plus subscribers. We’ve got a super-high-profile RPG, a pretty decent PlayStation VR shooter, a Souls-like co-op shooter, and the day-one debut of a promising puzzle-solving adventure.
It’s time to claim the March 2021 PS Plus games:
- Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)
- Farpoint (PlayStation VR)
- Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4)
- Maquette (PS5)
About those caveats: Square Enix is letting people who buy FFVII Remake upgrade to the enhanced PS5 version of the game for free, however, that’s not the case with this free PS Plus edition. Something to keep in mind if you’re dead set on playing FFVII Remake Intergrade or the Yuffie DLC in June.
My advice? If you’re on the fence about getting Final Fantasy VII Remake, particularly as someone who isn’t always into the series or hasn’t kept up with it for a long time, go for it. Worst-case scenario, if you fall head over heels and want to play the PS5-only Intergrade down the road, you could find a heavily-discounted physical PS4 copy and then upgrade it for free. According to Sony, “your disc version will be upgradeable as normal” even if you redeem this PS Plus version of the game, so you won’t be barred.
As for Maquette, Sony is only giving out the PS5 version, which has become something of a trend in recent months. That said, you don’t need to physically own a PS5 to redeem it. Secure your future.
Oh, and remember, even if you aren’t paying for PlayStation Plus, you can still get Ratchet & Clank (2016) on the house. It’s free-to-keep thanks to Sony’s Play At Home initiative, and it’s a fun one.
You have until March 31 to grab Ratchet & Clank. The deadline for everything else is April 5.
