The 2009 Video Music Awards didn’t kick off without a bit of videogame-related goodness. Actor, comedian, singer, and c–k push-up master Jack Black made a red carpet appearance at the place of the event donning the garb of Brutal Legend’s Eddie Riggs. Black is the voice behind the lead protagonist of the upcoming title, so it’s only natural for him to do this. Nothing weird about it at all. Nope.
Complete with fake muscles, a graphic tee and a ridiculously large fake axe, Black exposed the predominately 14-year-old girl viewership to the character. We’ll never know if he managed to turn anyone on to the game, but at least he tried.
Also of note at the VMAs: Lady Gaga took home a statue for her win in the “Best New Artist” category, and the Beastie Boys finally won something for the video “Sabotage.”
