Ever since the RapeLay controversy, the tradition of the “erotic” game has been a touchy subject in Japan, and we don’t mean the good kind of touchy. It seems that certain Ero games might not be so acceptable in the land of the Rising Sun anymore, with at least one well known distributor of interactive filth banning a vast number of titles based on certain key words.
The key words banned by online shop Dejipare include things like torture, bondage, loli and rape. Regular Christian sex will still be perfectly acceptable, but it seems that the whole underage rape thing that has been seen in many an ero title will no longer be tolerated.
Quite what this means in the long term is unclear, but if one thing is certain, it’s that some sectors of Japan are taking a good long look at themselves and wondering if they really do want to be associated with some of the stuff that’s been coming out of the Japanese erotic game industry.
