Mortal Kombat‘s daddy Ed Boon has made it no secret that he and his team are hard at work on Mortal Kombat 9, which the designer jokingly dubs “When dogz attack!”
Besides the fact that it exists (and that it will likely published by Warner Bros.), we know little else. Now, a job listing has revealed that the team is looking to set the bar for online gameplay. The job description puts out a call to a software engineer, with WB Games Inc. saying it’s “looking to position Mortal Kombat as the ‘gold standard’ for network play” and seeks someone who “wants to push the bounadaries of what is possible with online interaction.”
It will be interesting to see what the team comes up with in terms of the features they hope will “revolutionize online play.” I actually had a blast playing Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, but I have a feeling slapping sexy online features onto that game’s engine simply won’t do it for most gamers.
