YATTA!
In a recent interview with IGN Japan (translated by ResetEra), Judgment producer Kazuki Hosokawa hinted at the possibility of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios’ latest game coming to PC. In a question that directly addressed the Yakuza series showing up on PC, Hosokawa said, “I think the hurdles have been lowered by putting [Yakuza] on Steam.”
“At present, “JUDGE EYES” has not been decided yet, but it is considered as one of the options. We are in the process of considering the possibilities not only for Steam but also for other formats.” That last bit could mean a lot of things, like a potential Xbox One port (Nintendo Switch was shot down in the interview), but clearly, Sega is interested in bringing more of the series to PCs. It’s hard to blame them, too. The series has ballooned in popularity in the West and its existence on PC has opened the door for even more fans to experience it.
I, for one, would love Judgment on PC. While I still enjoyed Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2, the Dragon Engine being locked to 30 FPS does make the game feel considerably slower. Having the power to push past technical limitations and providing a blistering 60 FPS could make the sluggish feeling of the PS4 entries easier to deal with. Then we have all the possibilities that mods could afford us.
