There is an upside and a downside to the patching functionality found in modern console games. On the one hand, being able to close up nasty holes that would otherwise dampen the experience is quite the welcome feature. On the other hand, the discovery of elusive, game-breaking glitches can be akin to striking gold, so why deny that feeling to players through updates and fixes?
I don’t know if this is a recent discovery or if it’s been making the rounds in underground circles for the past decade, but there is a glitch in Ocarina of Time that allows you to skip from the Queen Gohma fight in the fist dungeon straight to the final encounter with Ganon. And the best part? You remain a child the whole time! How badass is it to conquer the game with nothing but a bottle, some Deku nuts, a stick, and the Kokiri Sword? Pretty badass, I’ll say!
ZeldaFreakGlitcha pulled off this 23.5-minute run, shaving some time along the way with some mind-blowing glitches in addition to the Ganon’s Castle warp. I simply love seeing stuff like this that pushes the boundaries of what’s allowed in a videogame!
