Love it or hate it, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare started a whole new craze when it introduced “perks” to the series. A class system that brought multiplayer rewards might not be to the taste of some players, but I enjoyed it and I’m quite chuffed that it’s coming to Killzone 2.
A diagram has been released that details Killzone 2‘s grading system, which has a variety of unlockable goodies for each rank in the game. For example, you can become a Lieutenant at 800 points, which unlocks the Engineer Badge, allowing you to earn the “Repair Specialist” distinction by fixing five vehicles. Earn that distinction eight times and you’ll win a new ability, “Turret.” Go on to achieve the “Turret Specialist” award eight times over and you’ll then be allowed to take “Turret” and combine it with a new class.
Sounds needlessly complex, but it’s a lot simpler once you see it all laid down in tasty diagram form. It actually looks a little deeper and more involved than Infinity Ward’s baby, almost like Guerrilla combined CoD4 with a rudimentary Final Fantasy job system.
As silly and unwarranted as that comparison is, take a little look at the diagram provided. It looks like Killzone 2 players will have a lot of work to do.
