Rough timing as always, SNK
SNK has announced that it will be holding an open beta next week in order to test out the rollback netcode update heading toward its world-class punch-up The King of Fighters XIII Global Match. The beta will take place on PS4 from June 5 through to June 11.
The beta will allow all PS4 owners to check out an updated version of the excellent 2010 sequel, which is the final KoF title to date to feature 2D animation for its super-fast and highly intense gameplay. Several modes will be available to all, including Practice Lobby, Online Vs. and Customization. Over the course of the six-day beta, SNK will be gathering data to analyze how well the new netcode is sitting.
It’s marvelous that KoF XIII is getting the upgrade, as it is truly one of SNK’s greatest releases of all time, and fully deserving a life within this generation and the next. It’s frustrating that, as they always seem to do, SNK has picked an odd time to run this King of Fighters XIII beta, literally days after the launch of Capcom’s Street Fighter 6. But regardless, this is good news for the KoF faithful, and here’s hoping that the love for KoF XIII can prevail in both the online and competitive markets.
King of Fighters XIII Global Match is available now on PC. It is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch in the near future.
