Kojima talks Very Easy Mode in Death Stranding

Intended for ‘movie fans’

For all the character introductions and bits of gameplay surrounding Death Stranding, we still largely don’t know what the game will entail and how demanding it’ll be. One thing’s for sure, though: it’ll have a range of options. Speaking on Twitter, director Hideo Kojima opened up about the difficulty.

It all started when Kojima’s assistant, Ayako Terashima, tweeted that she had cleared a “test play” of Death Stranding on Very Easy Mode in around “a month” while also managing her day-to-day tasks. “According to my boss, this mode is for people who usually don’t play ,” she said.

In response to that tweet (and the ensuing replies from fans), Kojima further contextualized the mode, stating: “Normally there’s only Easy Mode, but we added Very Easy Mode for movie fans since we have real actors like Norman [Reedus], Mads [Mikkelsen], Léa [Seydoux] starred in. Even Yano-san, who never completed the first stage of Pac-Man, was able to complete the game on Very Easy Mode.”

Meanwhile, Death Stranding‘s “Normal or Hard Mode is for action game fans,” as Terashima put it.

Cool. There are so many questions that need answering before we can even put this into perspective, but cool. Options are good. Death Stranding continues to seem like a curious game with the potential to reach a wide audience, and I love the idea of Mads’ kids forcing him to earn the platinum trophy.
