Bowties in custard and whatnot
I totally forgot LEGO Dimensions was happening, but now that I see it again… holy crap it actually looks good. The series has it all: Batman, Back to the Future, and now all thirteen Doctors from Doctor Who as well.
We already knew Doctor Who was going to be in the game, but the fact it includes all of the incarnations is a pretty neat way to show this might be a bit more than the cynical cash-in I was expecting it to be.
In a trailer released for the game, we see Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie team up with the Twelfth Doctor and companion Clara Oswald to defeat Daleks and Cybermen. It’s pretty rad to watch, and it’s good to know Peter Capaldi (or three Grasks in a trenchcoat doing a very good impression) is on board with the project.
In the in-game themed level, should the Doctor be defeated he will return to his first incarnation, and have to work his way back up through to the current Doctor. This isn’t how regeneration works at all, but let’s just go with it until we’ve played the level for ourselves.
The TARDIS interior will also change to match which Doctor you are playing as. It even includes the not-Doctor “War Doctor,” who was played by John Hurt in the 50th Anniversary special.
LEGO Dimensions will launch on September 27 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Wii U.
