Lips DLC prices look arbitrary, Microsoft won’t say why

Recommended Videos

The whole idea of Xbox Live Microsoft Points is arbitrary in and of itself, but when you get the publisher making up different pretend prices for the same DLC, the whole scenario becomes blatant in its ridiculousness. This is the case with Lips, where Microsoft likes to charge different amounts for songs, without explaining why.

Sometimes downloadable songs are 160 Points, sometimes they’re 180 Points. Microsoft has thus far given no explanation for its seemingly random price structure, and apparently, it doesn’t intend to. When asked why the Lips DLC prices vary from song to song, Microsoft gave one of the most bullsh*t statements I’ve heard in a while. Quite a feat for Microsoft.

“While we aren’t able to comment on the details of pricing decision, Microsoft is committed to providing a great value with Lips DLC by offering fun and popular songs and music videos that extend the Lips party experience.”

Ah, so that clears everything up. Problem solved.

Licenses probably have a big part to play, but I think this just goes to show how painfully “made up” the whole MS Point system really is. I guess all prices in all monetary systems are just perceived values pulled out of someone’s arse, but Microsoft chose to add to pre-existing nonsense with its own arbitrarily designed system, for no other reason than exerting an extra level of control over how its products are bought and used.

MS Points are such crap.
