Luigi’s Mansion 2 tops Japanese charts, Vita sales strong

Weegee number one! The leaner, greener Mario brother is enjoying his time in the spotlight this week, as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon edges out One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 for the top spot in Japan with 280,151 copies sold.

Elsewhere, North America-bound role-players Disgaea D2 and Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX are enjoying relatively strong launches. Nippon Ichi’s tactical RPG debuted this week at number seven (55,443) while Square Enix’s high-definition compilation has shifted 157,815 units to date. 

As far as hardware sales go, the Nintendo 3DS reigns supreme with 76,553, up from last week’s 69,439. The PlayStation Vita also bested last week’s effort, still riding high from last month’s price cut with 41,073 new devices out on the streets.
