Mad Catz officially announces partnership with Ouya

Uh, what?

Remember when we told you that you soon wouldn’t need an Ouya to play Ouya games? Well it appears as if the first stop is Mad Catz, since they have just announced a partnership that allows Ouya titles to appear on their more powerful M.O.J.O. micro-console.

That’s a bonus for Mad Catz (who already have a multitude of revenue streams), and a really odd move for Ouya — especially considering the fact that they were originally planning annual hardware iterations. It kind of reminds me of when OnLive failed to make a dent with its console and moved to a “wide platform” model before almost disappearing entirely.

This really seems like a last-ditch effort for Ouya, as it slowly expends its investor and Kickstarter funds. With some of the best sellers on the platform reportedly only dishing out mere thousands in sales, low sales numbers in general, and cash bonuses given out to developers who opt to go exclusive, I have no idea where the company is getting its revenue from.
