Despite UNICO’s outrage, 2K Games launched Mafia II last week without a hitch. A week later, it’s announcing the release date for the first bit of downloadable content, “Jimmy’s Vendetta.” Out on September 7, the pack will cost players $9.99 for PlayStation 3 and PC, and 800 MS Points for Xbox 360.
“Jimmy’s Vendetta” puts players in the shoes of a mafioso clean up guy, in a more arcade style experience featuring a slew of new missions like assassinations and car chases. The DLC adds a more arcade-style dimension to Mafia II, adding a scoring system including combos and multipliers, as well as a leaderboard to see who’s doing the best job as old baldy.
This content doesn’t sound too different than “Jimmy’s Betrayal,” the PlayStation 3 exclusive that came free with new copies of the game. It’s the reason I scored the PS3 game a bit higher in my review; I actually found the high-intensity arcade-like Jimmy stuff more interesting than the core game.
Anyone thinking about picking this up?
