MapleStory is getting its very own spinoff

Complete with an anime trailer!

MapleStory fans, check out this paralyzing bit of cuteness in the form of the very first ever MapleStory spinoff. And I know there are, like, five of you in the comments including myself. Nexon is implementing the very first spinoff in-game in the near future, and it’s called MapleStory Friend’s Story: First Spin-Off. Imaginative!

The game transplants familiar NPCs from MapleStory into a school setting, where you’ll be able to complete quests as a student of sorts. Quests are delivered via mobile phone, and you’ll live out your MapleStory days as a student in this alternate universe.

It looks absolutely adorable, and these screenshots have me wanting to go back to the game for the first time in ages. No word on a Western release just yet, but I surmise it’ll be hitting everywhere eventually.
