Jonathan Holmes and myself are fascinated by Senran Kagura, the boobie ninja schoolgirl action title for the 3DS. Despite producer Kenichiro Takaki’s claims that the game’s content has worldwide appeal, its intentionally high levels of titillation and overall Japanese-ness may lead you to believe that it has no chance of seeing a Western release.
In a two-part Siliconera interview with Toshinori Aoki and Daniel Kurtz, Marvelous Entertainment’s Executive Managing Director of Digital Contents and Business Development Coordinator respectively, the duo chats about the company’s plans for future games hardware as well as the handling of key IPs. The juiciest bit of info is how they are aware of interest for Senran Kagura and are looking into possible partners to bring the game out of Japan. Given the company’s recent track record in partnering to bring niche titles — such as Arc Rise Fantasia, Deadly Premonition, and Half-Minute Hero — out West, I think chances are really good. What say you?
