It’s a mystery box
There’s a certain allure behind mystery boxes. What’s in them? It could be anything. It could even be a boat; you know how much we’ve always wanted one of those.
Well, Microsoft’s offering a mystery box of its own today for pre-order, and it’s in the form of a $250 limited collector’s edition of Halo 5: Guardians. There’s probably not a boat inside it, but it’s $150 more expensive than the limited edition, and Microsoft only says it includes “everything in the limited edition, as well as additional content such as a commemorative numbered statue.”
The timing of the announcement of these pre-orders is highly strategic, as the Halo 5: Guardians beta opens today for owners of The Master Chief Collection. However, given all the problems that Master Chief Collection suffered, it’s probably not a great idea to plunk down cash for a game that’s almost a year away from release. But, if you’re willing to do that, Microsoft will happily take it.
