Public sign-ups will open on Jan. 8
We’ll soon have our chance to try out Dreams, the next creation game from LittleBigPlanet maker Media Molecule. As promised, there will be a beta on PS4 this year — but only for a select bunch at first.
Folks who were subscribed to the Media Molecule newsletter before December 7 will gain access to the Dreams beta on December 19. Then, on January 8, the studio will open public sign-ups for the beta.
The Dreams beta will come with a “pretty complete set” of creation tools, but it won’t have the full version’s story mode or VR support, and it’s only running until January 21, 2019. With that in mind, the beta will revolve around creation; “the bulk of playable things in Dreams” won’t be featured here.
Media Molecule says it plans to invite “lots of people” during the public sign-up phase. If you happen to make it in, the creations you concoct should be compatible with the final game if all goes to plan. That said, everything in the beta will be under a non-disclosure agreement, so there’s no sharing yet.
Better start brainstorming ideas.
