Sizzling circuits!!
Mario Maker was an amazing game, in fact, it’s the only reason my Wii U is still hooked up at my desk. If you’re like me you’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what other franchises deserve this sort of level creator fare.
At the top of my list, along with Zelda, is, of course, Mega Man. Lucky for me my dreams are a thing of the past, as there’s a trailer out for Mega Maker, a fan-made project that is doing just that for the blue bomber.
Mega Maker will use assets from Mega Man 1 through 6, over a hundred different tile sets twelve robot masters, and an original chiptune-inspired soundtrack from Cosmic Gem.The creators have put together a Patreon to cover server costs. The game itself will be free, charging for something using the Mega Man IP is a sure fire way to get shut down.
According to the creators, its been in development since September 2016, starting with only one person and gradually growing.
If that trailer is anything to go off of I’m pretty fucking excited. As long as Capcom doesn’t feel compelled to make an official Mega Man Maker they might let this little fan project live on, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. It’s set to launch on July 15, so cross your fingers.
