Now, you may read that headline and go, “Of course you would say that, Tony! You suck on the teat that is Mega Man 24-7!” But AH! I’ve got proof to back up my claim! Development on Mega Man Unlimited began a little over three years ago, and it was originally an interpretation of what Mega Man 10 could be (before the official game was actually, ya know, announced). It was so convincing as an authentic product that Capcom got confused and used some of the game’s assets to create the Mega Man 10 homepage! There’s a big story behind that which I’ll explain at a later date.
Mega Man Unlimited is the brainchild of Philippe Poulin, better known as MegaPhilX on YouTube and deviantART. This fan game was originally a concept animation created for a Capcom-Unity contest, but Phil got excited and decided to go ahead with a full project. Development technically reaches further back, as many of the Robot Masters were originally conceived during his childhood. Progress has been slow, but as the latest trailer above demonstrates, all that time and effort has been worth it.
There is so much to talk about that I couldn’t begin to fit it all in three short paragraphs, but I’ll spare you from my ramblings. For now, watch the trailer and hit up Phil’s YT and DA galleries for screens, extremely early gameplay footage, music, and more.
