Metal Gear Rising VR mission DLC is exclusive to PS3

Raiden’s extended training session for Sony players only

We learned last week that downloadable content in the form of VR missions would be coming down the pipe for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but there’s a new wrinkle today. Those missions will only be available to you if you’re a PS3 player, as Konami has confirmed the content and announced its exclusivity to Sony’s console today on the PlayStation Blog.

A few additional details have been revealed as well. The DLC will consist of 30 missions total and will include the ability to control the Dwarf Gekko mech at some point. They use the phrase “eclectic mix” in the post, which gives me hope that we’ll see something along the lines of Genola (the giant genome soldier which has appeared in prior VR missions).

I can’t say I find this terribly surprising. The Metal Gear franchise has often exhibited a preference toward Sony even when its releases are multi-platform and it’s a nice feather in the console’s cap without being something I would feel devastated by missing out on if I only had an Xbox.
