In pursuit of more fame and fortune, Mojang is bringing Minecraft to the world’s largest nation.

The Microsoft-owned Swedish game developer announced a partnership Chinese tech giant NetEase Friday to bring the PC and mobile versions of the popular game to the People’s Republic.

With NetEase’s “deep understanding of the Chinese market,” Mojang plans to make a version of the game tailor-made for Chinese audiences so they can better woo the burgeoning market.

It’s currently unclear when Minecraft will be released in China, but, whenever it does, if it becomes anywhere near as big a hit there as it is in the rest of the world, that would probably go a long way towards helping Microsoft recoup the $2.5 billion investment it made to acquire Mojang.
