Update to redstone, minecarts, more
Well, Minecon was over the weekend. And wouldn’t you know it? Another big update is planned for Minecraft. Set to kick off more themed and/or focused updates every two months starting January, the upcoming update (aptly titled the “Redstone Update”) will be making significant changes to redstone.
Redstone will now have a variable signal strength and be able to interact with the brand-new capacitor block. This can make pressure plates require a certain amount of pressure before they will output a signal to the capacitor block, for example.
Speaking of minecarts, they will also be seeing significant changes. There was mention of the mod that used tubes to transport items around the map, and how this could actually be implemented in the vanilla game, but instead with the already existing minecarts. You will be able to get rid of freeloaders, fill and empty chests, and link carts to a furnace cart. Yes, that’s basically a train and that’s awesome.
Mojang also added quite a bit of teasers of all the fun stuff they like to add, such as fireworks, a daylight detector, and even mention of a new ore that is probably going to happen. Be sure to watch the whole video above to hear even more.
