Monster Hunter World: Iceborne ships 2.5 million units during launch week

Happy hunting, indeed

Capcom has reported an initial sales figure for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and so far, so good. The expansion has shipped “over 2.5 million units worldwide” since its September 6 launch, according to the company. That total includes digital sales of Iceborne on its own as well as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition, a digital and physical edition combining the base game and the expansion.

For perspective, World shipped five million units within three days of its January 26, 2018 release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the time since, World has landed on 13.1 million units shipped (as of June 30, 2019). It’s a record-breaking game for Capcom, and its ongoing success is well-deserved.

Post-review, I’m still having an absolute ball with Iceborne. It’s become the video game equivalent of a nightcap for me, and I always seem to stay up late playing “just one more hunt.” Sleep can wait!

There’s a very real chance this expansion ends up landing on my Game of the Year list.
