Go nuts
Underrated combustion platformer Ms. Splosion Man is unexpectedly launching on Nintendo Swich next week on November 22. The sequel to that other underrated combustion platformer finds new life more than seven years after it first released on Xbox Live Arcade.
This is a fun development because developer Twisted Pixel spend so so so much of its time dedicated to exclusively to Xbox platforms. The Maw, ‘Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, Ms. Splosion Man, The Gunstringer, and LocoCycle all launched only on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. This was largely out of a long-running partnership between the two, but Microsoft actually bought Twisted Pixel in 2011. However, it became independent again in 2015.
So now, Twisted Pixel is free to release its games wherever it pleases. Its newer releases, like Wilson’s Heart, are locked to Oculus Rift. But stuff like Ms. Splosion Man are perfect fits for switch — doubly so because it’s an audience that might not have gotten a chance to play the older games in Twisted Pixel’s catalog. (Although, to be fair, a few of them have been on Steam for a while now.)
Ms. Splosion Man will seemingly launch for $15. Without having played it since launch, I’d feel comfortable betting that it still holds up.
