[Editor’s Sonic9jct made himself a Mr. Destructoid helmet for Halloween. Awesome! — CTZ]
The idea for this baby came to me about a month ago for whatever reason. Probably that Dante’s Inferno $200 video. Anyway, built this completely out of cardboard and painted it with a glossy acrylic paint so it would have a nice smooth and shiny sheen. Last year, I was Carl and my friend was Lenny and at a party, I was the Black Jackal (or Blackal) from ScrewAttack’s Life in a Game. The year before I was Solid Snake. This year I am Mr. Destructoid!
It was my plans to wear this to school, especially since this was my senior year. Unfortunately, I have to go to a theater conference that Friday, so instead of getting to wear this around all my close friends, I get to go out and confuse strangers. Win some lose some, ey? But there’s also a Halloween party during lunch Thursday, and I plan on wearing this. We can only hope that it’s a rave-like atmosphere. I also wanted to try and get my hands on a Niero-esque white suit, but I have yet t find one, so I will simply suit up with a jacket and tie, it still works.
Here are some photos I took as Mr. Destructoid at school. You can find better shots of the helmet after the break.
Here’s a good shot of the back
And here’s a reference shot for an idea of the size.
Here’s what I see when I put it on. Since there are no eye holes, I have to look down my nose through the mouth grill giving me a rather… limited perspective.
And finally, here’s how it looks upon my own head. It’s a fairly good fit, albeit a little loose, but not so much where I cannot function normally.
