Netflix has announced a premiere date for its previously teased live-action series set within the world of Resident Evil. The adaptation of Capcom’s gooey game series will debut on the streaming service July 14.

As previously reported, Resident Evil — for that is the show’s moniker — will follow two related timelines set during the lead-up and aftermath of a global bio-weapon disaster. One timeline follows the teenage children of longtime Resi villain Albert Wesker as they nervously step around their father’s strange and foreboding experiments. The second timeline, which will run in the show concurrently, is set 14 years later, with the planet engulfed in apocalyptic, monster-filled chaos.

The eight-episode season is being produced by showrunner Andrew Dabb, (of Supernatural fame),  and stars a hip ‘n’ trendy cast that will see Lance Reddick — who you may know as the sinister “Charon” in the John Wick series, don the equally sinister sunglasses of Albert Wesker. The cast is rounded out by young stars Siena Agudong, Ella Balinska, Paola Nunez, Adeline Rudolph, and Tamara Smart. In typical Netflix fashion, all eight episodes will drop at once, so you can get your binge on if that’s how you choose to live your life.

Netflix’ Resident Evil will be just the latest in a flurry of recent screen adaptations of the survival horror series. Summer 2021 saw the launch of Netflix anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, while the past fall brought us cinematic escapades in the form of movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
