During the warm up to the Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter from the Producers 82 on June 14, Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi showed off his shirt and let slip that there will be multiple designs coming in a collaboration with clothing brand Uniqlo.
The shirts were previously announced back in April, but we got another look at them at the end of today’s Live Letter, after almost four hours of exciting Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail reveals. The designs will be available for purchase in Japan on June 17, coming to stores worldwide a week later on June 24.
Despite being in the Live Letter, not all of the designs featured on the Uniqlo website are based on Final Fantasy XIV. The line includes designs based around Final Fantasy XVI and the Pixel Remaster series, too.
There are seven designs coming in total, each with a different design. The one that Foxclon can be seen wearing in today’s Live Letter features three chibi minions – Alpha, a Moogle, and Fatcat – emerging from the chest pocket, while others include quotes and iconic imagery from the long-running Final Fantasy franchise.
Director Naoki Yoshida can be seen wearing another of the Uniqlo designs in today’s Live Letter, this one featuring a full-front design of the Warrior of Light standing in front of an intricate sketched vista.
Another design, this one taking inspiration from Final Fantasy XVI, includes all eight of the Eikons who appear in the game, depicted in rainbow colors on the back of the shirt. On the front, peeking out of the front pocket, is a single Phoenix feather.
The best part about these shirts is the fact that they’re all relatively inexpensive. Each shirt will cost you $24.90 USD / £19.90 GBP. Each shirt comes in sizes from XS to 3XL, so there really is something for everyone in the collection.
