Kamille is a man’s name!
As we approach the release of New Gundam Breaker later this month, Bandai Namco has released what is most likely the final trailer. However, unlike previous ones, not only is this an in-depth look at the contents of the game, but the cast of Zeta Gundam provides narration for it. It’s a fun little trailer, filled with references and inside jokes, that leads into a parody of the finale of the show.
This trailer nicely sums up everything we needed to know. While we already knew many of these details, having it all in one place makes it easy to point newcomers towards. Whether it’s information on the story, the customization suite, the gameplay changes from Gundam Breaker 3, it’s all here. This is the kind of trailer Gundam Versus needed before its launch outside of Japan.
That said, there is one major bit of new information in this trailer. Every single mobile suit that will be in the base game was confirmed, along with the first wave of free DLC. However, the roster is looking a little light, with only 100 gunpla returning from Gundam Breaker 3 and 11 new ones in the base game.
As a result, there are many fan-favorite mobile suits that are nowhere to be found, even if the first free wave is included. Here’s just a few of the missing ones to give an idea without having to scour the list in the trailer.
- Hyaku Shiki from Zeta Gundam
- Burning/God Gundam and Master Gundam from G Gundam
- Hi-Nu Gundam from Beltorchika’s Children
- Gundam Heavyarms from Gundam Wing
- Gundam Double X from After War Gundam X
- Turn X from Turn A Gundam
- Kshatriya from Gundam Unicorn
While there is a promise of more than 100 gunpla coming as free DLC down the road, it’s not enough to just say that. There is no roadmap as to when any of this arrives, and there’s no indication that content like additional missions will also arrive to supplement this. It’s especially important if players have already experienced all of the content in the base game. Much like Gundam Versus, the shaky core roster could very well hurt New Gundam Breaker at launch, particularly since this is a game focused on customization.
New Gundam Breaker comes out June 22 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
