New releases: Civilization V gets a massive expansion

Plus, The Walking Dead: 400 Days, Guncraft, and some football

Civilization V is pretty good, but Brave New World makes it wonderful. Launching in a couple of days, the latest expansion is filled with a bevy of new features, most of which improve the tiresome late game with new paths to victory and greater flexibility. The changes and additions are so expansive that this might as well be a new game, from the diverse civilizations — including Venice, a civ that can’t even generate settlers — to the engaging trade system. It’s really rather rad.

A few other notable titles are also dropping this week. The Walking Dead: 400 Days snuck up on us last week, and now it’s arriving the App Store. I found it to be a novel narrative experiment but not quite as affecting as the first series. On top of this, we’ve got the shooty, crafty Guncraft; the anniversary celebrating Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection; and men hitting each other as they try to hold a slippery pigskin
