Every so often a game comes along that gets people to sit up and take notice, a title that draws attention. Michael Phelps: Push the Limit is probably not that game but it is exclusive to Kinect, and is now a tribute to Speedo, which will be represented with logos for the brand found on everything from the swimwear and caps to the stadium you will be swimming in (named Speedo Stadium).
This new Kinect-only game is being developed by Blitz Games, known for such titles as Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, Pocket Bike Racer and Sneak King. While their newest title will still be family-friendly, Blitz is hoping to bring a stronger sense of realism to it with the help of Speedo, which is apparently “synonymous with swimming”, and so will have players competing against Michael Phelps in career mode or going head to head with each other.
Personally, I would rather control Michael Phelps than compete against him, since me beating him in a swimming match is not terribly realistic. Then, after the match I would put on all my gold medals and smoke a bowl. Because that would make me feel like I was really Mr. Phelps. If you are interested in flailing your arms in this Kinect title, look for it October 2011.
