New Zelda in 2011? Wii MotionPlus required?

We’ve barely seen anything about the next Zelda game coming out other than a few words from Miyamoto himself and a single piece of concept art. Still it’s almost garnering more buzz than a 2.5D Metroid collaboration designed by the Nintendo guys who did the GBA Metroids and Team Ninja. To add to this sad state of affairs we bring you more news on a game that wasn’t even ready to be shown at this year’s E3.

In an interview with Wired Miyamoto discussed the upcoming game, expressing how he wants it to only work with Wii MotionPlus and require waggle though he does seem to realize that most people will not want an excessive amount of it in there. “There may be a group of people out there who look at people playing motion control games and have a hesitancy to try to play those because they’re worried that they might not look so cool, swinging a Wii remote around. But in watching people play New Super Mario Bros. Wii, even though it’s just a simple shaking motion, I’m watching people play (it) with a big grin on their face (Chad had one). So I’m hoping that we might be able to create a similar-feeling experience for Zelda,” he said.

When can we experience this similar feeling is a bit up in there air right now. Miyamoto says he is shooting for a 2010 release, but it could easily be pushed back and knowing Nintendo, who regularly pushes back games they already have set release dates for, this could mean it’s going to be a good long while.
