[Update: Well, the internet has forced Square’s hand. The official Deus Ex Twitter account just sent this out.]

Information regarding the next game in the Deus Ex franchise — subtitled Mankind Divided — has been obtained by a Russian gaming website, corroborated by a subsequent cover reveal from Game Informer. The game will be something of a sequel to Human Revolution — Adam Jensen returns as the protagonist, but none of Human Revolution’s four endings will be canonical. Unless this information is inaccurate or Deus Ex publisher Square Enix has another trick up its sleeve, Mankind Divided is likely the game Square is teasing over on its Twitch channel. Currently, the game is set for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

According to kanobu.ru, the site that originally ran the story, the game will be in the vein of its predecessors, with a variety of ways to approach combat encounters. “The choice offers two styles of play: ‘quiet’ passage and open battle.” Despite bringing back Human Revolution protagonist Adam Jensen and being set in the wake of that game’s events, Mankind Divided will not offer save imports for returning characters. “Developers do not plan to migrate from a previous save of the series — Human Revolution players will not have consequences, and none of the four endings Human Revolution will not be canonical.”

Mankind Divided will also introduce gameplay improvements, such as reworked AI. “Enemies travel in groups and if they suspect something is wrong, [they’ll] summon colleagues together to explore the dark corners. No more single dummy,” wrote Kanobu. Wow, no more single dummy? Guess I can’t play. Game Informer also claims the boss encounters will be improved.

Between the original leak and Game Informer, we’ll have to wait and see if Square will give up the ghost like Activision does every time a new Call of Duty gets leaked. On the other hand, they seem real dedicated to that dumb livestream.
